How much is it?
The cost of the 3 day course is £330 which includes your toile materials, your pattern, a stainless steel busk, steel boning, eyelets and lacing as well as your choice from a range of specialist corsetry fabrics. All materials are professional quality from Sew Curvy. As is the pattern which is specially designed to produce a far curvier result than big pattern company versions.

Where is it?
The Haberdashery is a sewing shop and classroom space in the heart of historic textile capital Paisley. Machines are available there (though you can bring your own if you prefer).

Why Paisley?
It’s a great venue, travel and parking are easy and cheap and there’s lots of nearby facilities. But also, Paisley has a long history with textiles, including the famous Paisley print of course. Many of it’s streets have fabric names.. Cotton Street, Silk Street... and there is a nearby museum as well as the famous Abbey. Sma' Shot Cottages have a small museum on textiles. There is also a weavers cottage museum at nearby Kilbarchan and a wonderful, eclectic costume museum a short and attractive drive away at Dalgarven Mill.

How do I get there?
There are three car parks behind the shop and transport nearby. Paisley is only 15 minutes by train from Glasgow Central. A days parking is approximately £5. Sunday of course is free parking.

I'm coming from further away, can I get there?
For for those travelling further: Paisley is the nearest town to Glasgow Airport. There are several hotels around the airport, as well as lots of smaller local accommodation. Or of course the entire city centre is close by.  Previous students travelling here have found great Air B&Bs nearby as well.

Why 3 days?
I've tried running a construction class over 2 days, there isn't enough time. Beginners run out of time rapidly and it restricts what we can do. Also, it's good to allow for some time for chat about corsets etc. and for it to be fun and not an intense rush. Though it can still get that way by Sunday!

What are the times?
The class will run from 09:30 until 16:30.

What about food and drink?
There are tea and coffee facilities at the venue and lots of nearby cafes and restaurants for lunch. We usually all go as a group to get a break (there’s a great cafe nearby who also do Vegan and Gluten Free options)  but of course you're free to go for a wander yourself or bring sandwiches if you prefer.

What you will need:

As the machines are available at the venue and the core materials are provided, all you will need to bring is your basic sewing kit. So, thread to go with the fabric you’ll be choosing. Scissors for both paper and fabric,  hand sewing needles, pins and marking materials. Also a pen or pencil and notepad.

I’ll be bringing specialist tools with me. I am discussing designing a kit with Julia at Sew Curvy with some basic relevant tools. If we get that sorted out soon I will send out a mail letting you know.

The most important thing you can bring is your enthusiasm :)

Class numbers are limited to a maximum of 5 for the best learning  experience.
